⭐️ Five years ago, almost to the day, my palms were sweaty and my heart was pounding. I was about to launch my makeup line that had taken 3 years, a ton of courage and a small fortune to complete. MANY people had questioned my sanity and my reasoning for taking on such a venture. I had a lot riding on this; I had quit my $50k/year job with paid vacation and benefits and sunk EVERYTHING I mentally and monetarily had to make this dream a reality.
Along the way, the ups and downs were immense and sometimes intoxicating in the most amazing and worst ways. From not knowing how I was going to pay the bills, to not having enough time in the day, week or month to appease everyone. Some days are polar opposite to the days previous. One day, you’re in Vancouver, surrounded by some of the worlds best makeup products at one of the worlds biggest makeup trades hows, then the next day, you are dismantling a palette of 2600 glass bottles, weighing 650 lbs, cursing and swearing over your broken nail.
Starting, running and growing a business is one of those things that I still can’t believe I am doing. I question my abilities almost hourly. Am I making the right decisions? Did I price this right? Am I aligning with the right influencers? But, at the end of it, I am 5 years in the game. I never once quit. I thought about it, but I think that’s okay because I didn’t quit. If I made it this far with all the craziness in my head, then I know I have what it takes to go long term. I can only imagine what the next 5 years will look like.
